The IECEx conformity mark licensing system is available to manufacturers that hold valid IECEx certificates of conformity to provide an instant visual indication that the Ex product(s) is/are covered by an IECEx certificate of conformity.

The IECEx System has introduced the IECEx scheme for certification of personnel competence, covering most aspects relevant to working with equipment in hazardous areas. This was originally developed at the request of industry, particularly the oil and gas sector where contract workers need to be assessed for their capability to work safely in many different parts of the world at any time.

IECRE is a Conformity Assessment System based on International Standards prepared by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) for equipment and services used in renewable energy (RE) applications. The system aims to facilitate the international trade of equipment and services in the marine, solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy sectors, while maintaining the required level of safety. Each of these sectors will be able to operate IECRE Schemes that cover products, services and personnel, to provide testing, inspection and certification.

This UNECE publication provides a common regulatory framework for Ex areas that recommends the IEC and IECEx as the world’s best practice model for the verification of conformity to International Standards. It can be used by countries that lack regulation in this sector as a blueprint for their regulation, and also for aligning existing national regulations with internationally harmonized best practice.
The framework is also available in Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese and Spanish.
